Advanced Functions

From single-spec queries to multi-dimensional discovery.

Supplier discovery extended across time, substitution paths, and verified proof — so procurement decisions reflect the supplier market as it actually is, not as the catalog records it.

Three functions

Discovery, across time, substitution, and proof.

Each function extends supplier discovery into a dimension it has historically ignored — replacing the static point-in-time query with a continuous, structured view of supplier capability.

Function 01

Upcoming Capabilities

What it does

Upcoming Capabilities turns supplier evolution into a forward view of the supply base — in a market and an era where capabilities shift fast (AI-driven automation, new processes and technologies, new materials, new product lines). Buyers see who will be ready when programs start, even if they didn't ask for "ready by Qx." Suppliers make future investments visible to the right customers long before the first article.

How it works

Suppliers maintain a dated roadmap of incoming certifications, processes/technologies, equipment and lines, materials, services, and products. Each item has a target quarter or date. When a buyer searches normally, Discoverer also surfaces suppliers that will be ready in the relevant window, alongside those available today — or buyers can tighten to "available now" or "ready by Qx/Y" when needed.

Function 02

Strategic Alternates

What it does

Strategic Alternates makes substitution explicit and credible. It captures where a supplier's new technology, process, material, or product is a viable substitute for a mainstream counterpart — so buyers see serious alternates surfaced alongside standard options. Not generic AI guesswork: crafted by the deepest domain experts — the suppliers themselves.

How it works

Suppliers register concise, structured statements that map a new item to its mainstream counterpart(s) and conditions of use: "This new technology / material / product can substitute that established counterpart in these application conditions, under these known constraints, and with these exclusions." Discoverer links these mappings to the categories buyers already search; relevant alternates are presented in context, even when buyers didn't explicitly request "alternatives."

Function 03

Past Projects

What it does

Past Projects converts supplier profiles from claims to documented operational performance in comparable conditions — buyer-validated, rated, and permissioned for brand use. New programs can rely on proven execution rather than marketing copy, and comparable specifications, tolerances, and execution mastery surface against new procurement needs.

How it works

Suppliers record key projects (scope, specs and certifications, volumes, lead-time achieved, outcome deltas like cost/uptime/scrap/incident rate, timeframe, status). They enter the buyer company name; Discoverer resolves the exact entity, routes a structured validation to mapped procurement stakeholders, captures confirmation, a multi-factor satisfaction rating, and a brand-usage decision (public/anonymized/blocked). Confirmed projects and scores become searchable track records.
